Statuses and locations

Tailor Proto Tracker's statuses to your test process and set up locations, including external ones like test houses and customers.

Statuses

A status says where a prototype is in your process. Manage them under Statuses.

  • Add statuses that match how your team works, e.g. Awaiting parts, In bring-up, In thermal, Passed, Failed.
  • Colour each one. The colour appears as an indicator light next to prototypes.
  • Reorder by dragging the handle (keyboard users: focus the handle, press Space, move with the arrow keys, then press Space again). The order is used when sorting prototypes by status.
  • The count next to each status links to the prototypes that have it.

Locations

A location says where a prototype physically is: a bench, a shelf, the environmental chamber, a test house, a customer.

  • Untick This location is in-house for anywhere outside your building. External locations are labelled EXT in lists so you can quickly review what’s out in the field.
  • The count next to each location links to the prototypes there.

Deleting

If prototypes still use a status or location, Proto Tracker asks you to confirm. Deleting then clears that status or location on those prototypes (they become “No status” or “Unassigned”). Past changes stay in the history with the original name.
