Built because the spreadsheet kept losing boards
Proto Tracker started on an electronics bench. Every hardware project had the same problem: a growing pile of prototypes, each a little different from the last, tracked in a spreadsheet that was always slightly out of date. Boards got reworked and nobody wrote it down. Units went to a test house and quietly never came back. Someone would ask "has this one got the regulator fix?" and the honest answer was "probably."
Proto Tracker is the tool we wanted: a shared, permanent record of every prototype, what's been done to it, and where it is, that's quick enough to use in the middle of a busy day in the lab.
What we believe
- History is the product. Knowing when something changed and who changed it is what turns a list into a record you can trust. So history is append-only, and it's included in every plan, including the free one.
- Your designs are yours. Unreleased hardware is sensitive. We encrypt everything, run no trackers in the app, share nothing, and let you export or delete your data whenever you like. Read our security overview.
- Cheap enough to just say yes. A small team shouldn't need a procurement process to stop losing prototypes. Team is a flat $19 a month.
- Built for hardware. Revisions, reworks, serials and labels are first-class concepts, not custom fields.
Who we are
Proto Tracker is built and operated by Corella Creations. We're a small, independent team. You'll get answers from the people who write the code: hello@proto-tracker.com.
