Custom fields
Add your own fields to every prototype, such as firmware version, test rig or calibration date, with every change kept in the history. Business plan.
Every team tracks something extra: the firmware flashed on each board, which test rig it’s on, when it was last calibrated. Custom fields add those to every prototype. They’re part of the Business plan.
Adding a field
Admins and owners go to Organisation settings → Custom fields, then give the field a name and a type:
| Type | Good for |
|---|---|
| Text | Firmware version, fixture ID, PO number |
| Number | Idle current, cycle count, hours on test |
| Date | Calibrated on, shipped on |
| Choice | Test rig, build house, enclosure colour |
| Yes / no | Burn-in done, conformal coated |
Choice fields need a list of options. You can add help text, which is shown as a hint when someone fills the field in.
You can rename a field and change its choices later. A field’s type can’t be changed once it’s created; add a new field instead. Removing a choice doesn’t change prototypes that already have it.
Filling them in
Custom fields appear on every prototype page under Custom fields. Type a value and press Enter (or click away) to save; choices and yes/no save straight away. Clear a value to remove it. Every change is recorded in the prototype’s history with the field’s name, the old value and the new one.
You can also fill them in when importing a spreadsheet.
Seeing and filtering them
- On the Prototypes list, custom fields appear as extra columns. Use Columns (in the filter panel) to choose which ones. The choice is remembered in your browser.
- Choice and yes/no fields get their own filters.
- Search also matches custom field values.
- The JSON export includes field definitions and values.
Deleting a field
Deleting a field removes it from every prototype. The values it had stay in each prototype’s change history.
If you move to the free plan
Nothing is deleted. Existing fields and values are still shown and exported, but can’t be changed or added to until you subscribe again.
